A favourite discovery in this season’s programme is Les SlovaKs, a brotherly collective of five men from Slovakia whose both very poetic and physical dance depicts their lovely story of friendship and their shared roots. Graceful and creative, they invent unusual scores, come together facetiously and challenge each other with humour. To the sounds of a live violin, they exude a freedom that seems to emanate from their complicity but also their intense relationship with the music.
They proclaim their folk culture, while fully integrating it into their modernity as creatives who have worked with some of the greats, including Anne-Teresa de Keersmaeker, Akram Khan, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Wim Vandekeybus. A show whose essence is the pleasure of sharing.
