Lady Justice

Lady Justice deals with the relation between justice and art. In today’s turbulent world, artists are often commissioned by art institutions to create their works as political acts. Claiming social and political justice through the apparatus of theater is literally questioned in this piece, by brining fictive juridical case outside of the court into the context of theater.

The reason for that context shift is an encounter with the theater audience. Lady Justice strongly believes that they will be able to help in the process of solving this difficult case, where main protagonists – the artist and the artwork are on opposite sides. This performance is based on the lyrics by Nina Simone’s song “I wish I knew how it would feel to be free”.
