About the show

The Rodin Project is the latest work by choreographer Russell Maliphant produced by Sadler's Wells London. Inspired  by the work of   French sculptor Auguste Rodin this work already follows the success of Maliphant's earlier choreograpy „AfterLight“ which had received a  nomination for the prestigious Olivier Award and was recipient of the Critics' Circle National Dance Award.

For this work, Maliphant found inspiration in a group of extraordinary performers. He courageously steps into for him new territory in which he combines two dance styles: urban and contemporary dance. The movement here is influenced by the dance forms of popping, breaking and contemporary dance, integrated through Maliphant's language of flow, form and dynamics.

Here to he  collaborates with an exceptional team of authors: Russian composer Alexander Zekke who introduces a music full of long string notes and egzotc eastern hues,, light designer Michael Hulls, and supported by  the set of Es Devlin and Bronia Housman and costume designer Stevie Stewart.
